Jefferson Banner - Opinion John Foust - JDC |
March 1, 2000
John Foust Dear John, Thanks for taking the time to meet with me yesterday. This letter will respond to your February 18, 2000 letter on behalf of the JDC. In your three page letter I was able to identify one new valid open records request:
On November 16, 1995 the JDC paid the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce $50 for 1996 dues and on November 25, 1996 we paid $55 for 1997 chamber dues. In his January 31, 2000 letter Mr. Olsen asks that you only make one request for a record. Regarding your request for information about the industrial park properties or tenants, I feel Mr. Olsen's January 31, 2000 response makes it clear that the information you are requesting is maintained by the City of Jefferson. Please do not make multiple requests for a record. Regarding your questions about chamber of commerce dues paid by the JDC, this information is contained in the Quickbooks company file which you requested on October 18, 1999 and which was provided to you on October 27, 1999. Please do not make multiple requests for a record. Thc remainder of your letter addresses issues which should be directed to the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce or the CIA or are questions or statements which do not require a response in accordance with the open records statutes. I think this letter adequately addresses your February 18, 2000 letter on behalf of the JDC. I would like to remind you that you submit your open records requests in bulleted format. It is our hope that you will honor that request in future correspondence. Sincerely, Steve Lewis cc: District Attorney Dave Wambach, JDC Board of Directors |
