Jefferson Banner - Opinion John Foust - JDC |
August 27, 1998
David Schornack Dear Dave: You have requested an opinion as to whether the Jefferson Development Corporation would be considered a quasi-govemmental corporation requiring compliance with Wisconsin's Open Meetings laws. In reviewing Sec. 19.82(1), a govermnental body includes a quasi-governmental corporation. Based on the fact that the Jefferson Development Corporation is funded by the City, and the City has delegated the corporation authority in various matters to act on the City's behalf, it would be my opinion that the Jefferson Development Corporation is a quasi-governmental corporation and therefore needs to comply with Wisconsin Open Meeting law requirements. If you should have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. Very truly yours, E. Scott Scheibel |
