Marilyn Haroldson
Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation

Dear Marilyn,

Where are the remaining physical assets of the JCEDC?  In particular, I'd like to know where the computers are. I believe there was a laptop as well as a desktop computer.

These would contain the records in electronic format that I have been seeking since April 2001, which should be made available to the public, as described by the letter from the Wisconsin Attorney General's office, a copy of which can be viewed at the link below.

As I understand it according to Wisconsin corporation law, these assets should have been liquidated and the proceeds turned over to creditors such as the County, or inured to the benefit of the members of the corporation, in this case the member municipalities who have paid dues all these years.

The electronic format of the documents, such as the database of businesses and properties I have repeatedly requested, and other documents describing the economic resources in our County, will be very valuable for the new web site that is being developed by the Economic Development Committee. Without these files, the data must be recreated at great expense.

I hope that you can cooperate with the County to preserve these assets for their future efforts.

- John
